Sculpture Certificate of Achievement
This certificate provides students with an in-depth analysis of the technical practices and critical thinking strategies required to execute Sculpture as a means of personal expression. All learning is set within the fundamentals of 3D design. Materials and processes studied include plaster carving/casting, wood fabrication, clay modeling, mold making, metal fabrication/casting, and light metal forming. Students can utilize these foundational studies to define their pathway, whether it is professional/career development or personal enrichment.
Program Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:- Demonstrate a technical facility to safely use and manipulate a wide variety of sculpture
materials, tools, and equipment and a thorough understanding of historical and contemporary
sculptural processes. - Proficiently propose designs that communicate the chosen content of the artist and calculate
the material requirements necessary to implement these designs. - Develop an understanding of Sculpture's overlap with, and integration within, other art and
craft disciplines, and an ability to discuss and critically evaluate their Sculpture and the sculpture
of other artists. - Develop an ability to assess three-dimensional artwork using the elements and principles of
design. - Intermediate level competency in additive, subtractive, and plastic methods of producing
sculpture, including basic mold-making, plaster carving and casting skills, woodworking, clay
modeling, light metal fabrication and forming, and found objects.
Certificate of Achievement Requirements
Note: All courses must be completed with a letter grade of “C” or higher or “Pass.”

Any student who chooses to complete only the requirements listed above qualifies for a Certificate of Achievement in Sculpture. An official request must be filed with the Admissions and Records Office prior to the deadline as stated in the Academic Calendar.
